Farfalla rossa 2

I finished tatting this butterfly last night.

Farfalla rossa 2 by Edda giugno 2000. The pattern can be found here.

I signed up for my first tatting exchange. I'm a little nervous though because I'm an advanced beginner or maybe an intermediate. I can do split rings/chains. Cluny is still a mystery to me, I hope to learn this skill.

Beautiful bookmark by Hope

I bought the book "Tatted Lace of Beads The Techniques of Beanile Lace" by Nina Libin from fellow tatter Hope. Enclosed with the book was a beautiful green bookmark made by Hope.

cat

I was sorting through some old tatting pictures and found one of a cat that I tatted around May of '05. This is before I straightend everything out so the ear is folded. The pattern is from Complete book of Tatting by Rebecca Jones.

I've also been reading a lot of tatting blogs and have joined some tatting groups. I will have to get the list together and post links.

Projects that I want to tat.

I am going to order the chess set and Nativity set books by Ineke Kuiperij. These will probably be my most challenging projects to date for me.

I also want to tat a pink shawl in the book Tatted Fashion by Teiko Fujito.

I'm pleased to have found a copy of Gerogia Seitz's book Tatting On The Edge and Beyond. I received a confirmation email today and was told that the book has shipped. I look foward to trying some of the patterns in this book. I would also like to get a copy of her book Tatting with Friends.

Another tatter was kind enough to sell me a copy of Tatted Lace of Beads, the Techniques of BEANILE Lace. I'm waiting for it's arrival and learning this beautiful technique.

I will post progress pictures as I finish up projects.

I like to knit too

I thought that I would share my other needle hobby, knitting. I finished this sweater last winter.

tatting from last spring

These are 2 pieces that I had finished last spring.

The floral bookmark is from the book Tatted Bookmarks Needle & Shuttle Edited by Barbara Foster

The snowflake pattern is Flutterflake by © Emma Crew, 2001

I need to trim the ends of the butterflys and block them to lay flat. I also need to learn how to do the joins of the center rosette better.

I have joined a bunch of tatting groups. Everyone has been very nice and helpful. I notice that tatters are more than willing to help other tatters.

3D snowflake

Superbowl Snowflake Pattern by Sharon Briggs

This is my first 3D pattern. I realize that I need to stiffen up the tatting to get it to lay right. I used size 20 thread.

Trying to use up ends

Heart Pattern: Georgia Seitz Heat Doily
Cross Pattern: Sheila Stewart

I had a lot of scrap pieces of thread so experimented with using up colors. I combined a heart doily with a cross. I need to shape the piece better. I realize too since I was changing colors that I have a lot of sloppy ends.

I have joined a few tatting groups. I also enjoy reading tatting blogs. One of the most informative blogs that I read is ThreadsFrom a Tatting Goddess.
