Beading

I'm experimenting with beads. I had tatted a snowflake with beads a few years back. I wasn't happy with the way it had turned out so hadn't tried beading since. I think that I will by Nina Libin's bookTatted Lace of Beads, the Techniques of Beanile Lace.

I have finished a few bookmarks. I need to scan these in so that I can post pictures.

This is a snowflake that I had finished right before Christmas '05. The pattern is in an issue of Anna Burda.

This is my first project that uses block tatting.

Organizing

I'm trying to organize my patterns and threads. I miscounted my rings for tatmom03's cross so ended up with a lopsided cross.

I'm currently working on a purse. I'm trying to figure out how the top part should go.

Blue Snood

I finally had dh take a picture of the snood that I had completed last week. I modified a baby cap pattern.

The snood measures approximately 4" across, 2" deep and 12.5" diatemer. It is held on by Amish hairpins.

Experimenting

This is my first attampt at a 3D tatting piece that I completed last May. I tatted this with Flora Thread. I took an edging pattern (I think from one of the old Priscilla Tatting Books).

I think that some of the nicest skills that I have learned is split ring/chains. For me the less I have to cut and tie the better.

Current Projects

I'm experimenting with patterns trying to come up with a decent snood design. I would like to make a bun cover that is big enough to hold up a large bun. One experiment was a real dud, the motifs we're to small and I lost track of my count so skipped some joins. I'm having some better luck modifying a baby cap. I'm almost finished and will post pictures when ready.

Daisy bookmark completed 6/2006. "I found the pattern here."

This was one of my first pieces that I made for hair (5/2005).

1st Tatting

This rosette is one of the first motifs that I had completed when I first started tatting. The pattern is from an old Ann Orr book. I think that the thread is DMC Traditions crochet thread. As I've gotten more experience I discovered that I don't like crochet thread at all. For everyday tatting (experiments, practice) I use DMC Celiba. I like to use Flora threads for pieces that I tat as gifts.
